Where's The Cake? Easel Card

Here is a card I made for a good friend.  We celebrated her 29th birthday, for the 7th time, lol.

I used some spare K&Co paper from I don't even remember which collection, but I fussy cut the butterflies out of the same collection.  The baby roses are IAmRoses and the larger flowers are from Prima's eline collection.  I used Glimmer Mist in coordinating colors to pretty them up.  The doily is from a pack of doilies I got from Michaels in the baking section, and the diecut piece is from a spellbinders nestability.  Soooo much fun making this little card.

AAAHHHH!!!

All my YouTube videos got deleted on accident.  I about fainted!  I know it's just YouTube, but a lot of work goes into each and every video :'( .  Please bear with me while I re-upload some vids.  I don't have them all backed up, but I do have some.  I'm so sad, I think I lost some vids I had of my daughter.  The vids won't be in chronological order any more either.  And if there is a video below that you want to watch, they won't work.  I will try to replace them with working videos, but until then, visit www.youtube.com/user/tatteredrose0610 .  Thanks so much for your patience.

Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop! Using Kraft Glassine

Hi Hoppers! Welcome to the Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop.  If you made it here, you probably just came from the fabulous Darlene Carroll's blog. If not,  start at Angela's blog and see what all the talented Artsy Addicts have up there sleeves for you.

I'm so excited to share a new product from Tim Holtz.  It's called Kraft Glassine and it is a coated kraft paper that is semi-translucent.  The cool part about it is that the coating resists inks and colors.  When you crumple up or emboss the glassine, cracks are created in the coating and absorb color.  You've got to try it for yourself, it's hard to get how totally cool it is through explanations or on camera.  This is definitely a new fave of mine...I'm just sayin'.  Hope you enjoy the video :)

Want to win some Kraft Glassine?  Leave a comment below and I will use random.org to pick a winner. Good luck!

Hop on over to Liz's blog and see what she has in store for you.  Have fun!

Some Cards (:

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice

Here is a very easy card I made using my Cricut Home Decor Cartridge.  I have Create A Critter coming in and can't wait to make some cute animal cards!!  I ruffled the ribbon as I used my sewing machine to sew it onto the card base.  I love sewing on cards!!  This is a really simple to make card with very cute effects.  Perfect for that sweet little girl in your life :)

Stylish Blogger Award!

Thank you Jamie for this award!  I've always admired your blog and to receive this award from you is such an honor :)  You can visit Jamies blog, Jamie's Crazy Craft Life, "here".

To have the honor of receiving the Stylish Blogger Award you must always pay it forward to other bloggers who are fairly new to blogging or to bring more fans to those you enjoy following.
With this award you are to share eight things about yourself.  Then pass the award to eight others

I'd like to pass the Stylish Blogger Award to:

3) LaShawnda "Stampin' with La'Diva"
4) Marie "Art of Marie"
6) Jo "Paper Drama"
7) Rina "Scrap Musubi"
8) Gisele "Supersnooks13"

Yikes!  Eight things about myself??  Here goes...:

1) Since I'm holding a cup of coffee right now, I'll start with the fact that I need my morning cup of java!! (or two)

2) I'm a work from home mom.  I work for two different web stores managing product input and social media sites (that's my excuse for always being on Facebook!)

3) I love roses.  Well, I love rose drawings and paintings and my daughters middle name is Rose.  I love rose colors (tattered rose, dusty rose...) but I don't really like the actual flower.  It may be that it's too cliche, but there you have it.

4) My favorite show growing up was The Carol Duvall Show.  I liked HGTV a lot better than MTV!  I'm such a dork, I know :)

5) I'm a Navy brat.  My favorite place to live was Guam!  I love island life, and the fact that I could walk to a beautiful tropical beach in two minutes to snorkel on the reef was awesome.  I'm so happy I got to experience that.  Now to convince my husband that we need to move there...

6) For my 10th birthday, my dad quit smoking (cold turkey after smoking all of his teen and adult life) at my request.  Because of this, I have never and will never pick up a cigarette.  I also won $100 at bingo so that was a really good birthday :)

7) I'm afraid of aliens.  I do believe there are life forms on other planets and that they have the ability to visit Earth.  You know that story about the Bermuda Triangle and the big brightly lit object that comes out of the water and zooms across the night sky?  Did you know that the earliest recorded sighting of that particular light in what is now known as the Bermuda Triangle can be found in the log of Christopher Columbus?  True story.

8) I love love love to read.  I loved the Twilight Series as well as The Host, also by Stephenie Meyer.  My favorite author is Jane Austen and my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice.  Other favorites include Little Women, Gone With The Wind, The Mysterious Journey of Edward Tulane (read that one with my son and loved it), Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, The Hidden Diary of Marie Antionette, Confessions of a Queen, Mary Queen of Scotts and the Isles, and many more.  I especially love books based in the past :)

Thanks again, Jamie.  I can't wait to read more random facts about some awesome bloggers :)  Have a great day, everyone <3

The Busy Life of a Scrappin' Mom

With an infant and a small child it's difficult to find a minute to craft!  I usually save my crafting for late at night, but I've been so tired lately since Jaidyn still isn't sleeping through the night.  I know I'll miss these sleepless nights when she's all grown up and asking to borrow the car, but for now I'm just trying to get some shut-eye whenever I find a quiet minute :)  In other words, I haven't been able to do too much scrappin'.  I have made a few cards, two altered canvas's for myself, and one as a birthday gift for my Daddy (pics coming soon).  I still haven't finished my 'You and Me' mini which I've shown on my youtube channel but it'll be done soon.  What have you all been up to?

12 Days of Christmas ATC Sisterhood Blog Hop!

Hi everyone. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in Jamies Blog Hop for ATC Sisterhood! The theme was 12 Days of Christmas and I was lucky enough to get 'Six Geese A-Layin' (My favorite line from the song). This is the ATC I came up with.

The card is, of course, 2.5"x3.5". I used a LOT of Glimmer Mist. The base is gold cardstock by Bazzill and the red paper is from Recollections. The red was too 'red' for me, so I vintaged it up by misting it with Wheatfields and a smidgeon of Pinecone Glimmer Mists. I cut an egg shape out of manilla paper and distressed it by crumpling it up and rubbing my Tea Dye Distress Ink by Tim Holtz over it. To make the ink smudge, rather than spraying the egg with water I sprayed it with Wheatfields Glimmer Mist. I inked the edge of the egg with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I couldn't find an image of geese that I liked, so I drew the geese you see! I used a black pen and cut the geese out (there are six of course!) I then sprayed that with Wheatfields ( I am so in love with this color! ). For the Prima two-tone roses (they started out pure white), I dipped a round brush right into my bottle of Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist and touched the brush tip to the center of the rose. I let the mulberry do it's work and absorb the mist from the brush. Guess what else I sprayed it with?? Wheatfields of course. The red mini roses came like that and are from iamroses.com. I added two eyelets in the corner and edged the whole thing with Frayed Burlap. Oh, I almost forgot. I added gold ribbon under the geese to act as sort of a nest. Whew, lots of work goes into these tiny cards! But this was so fun to make :)

Scrappin' a Card For My Sister

Hi everyone.  I made a card for my big sis.  I used K&Co paper.  For the flowers, I had some roses from the craft store (from the floral section, I got a whole bunch for 2 bucks at Joanns).  I ripped them apart and relayered them using hot glue.  I then added some bling in the center.  This card is very simple, using very few products, but I like the way it turned out. I posted a pic of a card I made the same way with the same papers, but here's how I did it.  Sorry about the poor editing, I did this at one in the morning, was having technical issues, and decided to just upload it as is.  Also, the end got cut off somehow so you don't get to see me finish the inside.  I had uploaded the vid to a Mac, my little sis accidentally deleted the vid off my Vado HD, we only have imovie 08 on the Mac (it can't speed videos up and this would have been a 48 min video without speeding it up), I couldn't get the video over to my PC properly so...it was very frustrating :)  Oh well, enjoy, and thanks for watching.  Don't forget to sub to my Youtube, www.youtube.com/user/tatteredrose0610

I'm getting a Scraft Room :) We have two kids and are moving from a 2 bedroom to a 4 bedroom to accomodate the new baby. Only one thing to do with that extra room :)

And here is my 4 year old sons Halloween project.  Love him!

ATC Challenges With A Twist (For ATC Sisterhood)

I made this ATC for the "ATC Challenges With a Twist" challenge for ATC Sisterhood. I used a looooot of Glimmer Mist, my new favorite! You can't really tell in pics but this is really sparkly. You also can't really tell unless you look closely, but I used black aluminum metal roses for the center of the flower and for the dots next to the cards greeting. I put black lace behind the first layer of the ATC, and tore slits (and curled the paper) to show off the lace. Supa Dupa Fun!

Member of Cafemom?

If your a member of Cafemom and love to scrapbook, join my ATC group.  It's called Three P's in a Pod.  It's the Three P's for me and my two sisters, we are the three Perkins girls, even though two of us are married and have changed our last names.  My older sis is still a P though, Parsons.  My older sister loooves to scrapbook like me, and my lil sis is just getting into it, and I think if she has kids she'll be just as hard core as me and big sis.  Anyway, at Three P's in a Pod, we trade artist trading cards (ATC's) every month.  I'll throw in some mini albums and greeting cards as well.  I like ATC's because they are small and it's easy to do a bunch.  You get to explore different techniques, use up some of that old scrap paper, and see what other artists are doing.  You get inspiration and learn new techniques by being able to hold another scrappers piece of work in your hand.  It keeps you up to date and gets you into your scrap room since you have to meet a deadline.  I've gotten more layouts done since I started this because I'm already at my table with all my tools out, I might as well work on the many albums I need to catch up on :)  Come join the fun at http://www.cafemom.com/group/111224 .  Hope to see you there.

I Won!

Oh My Gosh!  I'm in a group on Cafemom called Snazzy Swappers and Scraps and I signed up for a swap.  Apparantly they had a drawing for all the people who joined a swap and my name was drawn.  I've never won anything in my life and I wasn't even trying with this one.  I got a package yesterday and it contained paper and bling, two spools of Christmas themed ribbon, some Christmas chipboard lace, epoxy stickers, Halloween and Thanksgiving themed embellishments, and my most favorite thing, a blank journal with an alterable front.  I can not wait to get started!  I'm making my first art journal, where I can totally play around and try out new techniques and mediums.  I need to go get some Gesso and some more acrylic paint and start playing.  Looks like I'm shopping this weekend.  It's a good thing that Joanns and AC Moore are having sales :)
